About This Tune
Smith’s Reel most commonly refers to a popular American reel in D Major with potential roots in both American and Irish traditions. It appears in collections such as Ryan’s Mammoth Collection (1883) under the title “Smith’s Delight,” as well as in Cole’s 1000 Fiddle Tunes. Matthew learned it from the playing of Terry Morris and Norman Solomon.
